It's really all about the music

Tonight I've been watching the DVD "Paul Stanley: One Live KISS", and I've realized, I love KISS because of the music. Sure, KISS is awesome for so many reasons, I like the merch, I like the books, I like the collectables, but the real reason is the songs. Watching the Paul DVD just drove home the fact that KISS has written some great songs that I will listen to forever. Even though Paul's band is the band from Rockstar: Supernova, they still played the classics like they are meant to be played, even though the lead guitarist didn't get some of Ace's solo's right, espsecially on Got To Choose, but they still played the hell out of all the KISS classics. This DVD proves that Paul Stanley is the heart and soul of KISS. What did he have to prove by touring with the Supenova band? What did he have to prove by touring with Bob Kulick in the '80's? The only thing he had to prove was that he loves the music, and that is the heart and soul of KISS. Sure, Gene whores out KISS's name to a million different things, but as long as he still puts all he has into singing Duece at the next KISS show, it will still rock. The KISS lineup looks a little different these days without Ace and Peter, but Tommy and Eric more than make up for their absence. In fact, I believe that the current lineup is much tighter today than any KISS lineup ever. I just hope that the rumors are true, and that Gene, Paul, Tommy, and Eric are stepping back in the studio to record the first new KISS ablum in 10 years. I think Tommy and Eric are pure rock and rollers, and a new KISS record with them contributing will be one of the best. I hope they just remember what KISS stands for: KEEP IS SIMPLE STUPID! Lots more on KISS to come, KEEP ON ROCKING.

Just Getting Started

Nothing seems to be happening at work today, so I'll just tackle a few random topics bouncing around in my head. Last night I had a great run, 3 miles in 25:29. I've been running for almost a year now, starting about the end of January 2008. I didn't know if it would last, but as I added on the miles and learned a thing or two about running, I got hooked. But I now have a small problem, I seem to have injured my knee a few months ago, and it is still nagging. I trained and competed in a half marathon, and the knee started bothering me a few weeks before the 13.1 mile race. My self diagnosis is runners knee, and I gave it 3 weeks off, but that didn't seem to help. I felt good after last nights run, with a little pain, but this morning it hurts a lot worse. I hate to go to the doctor, but I feel that maybe it's time to seek a professional opinion. In the mean time I think I will give it a break until after the new year, and find other ways to burn calories so I can keep eating like a much younger version of myself.
